Future of Garment Decoration

Aaron: Dane Clement with Great Dane Graphics said, “We will be releasing updated versions of my T-Shirt Artwork Simplified books early first quarter this year, so that’s our biggest news. We have other news but I don’t have confirmation yet as to when we can announce, it won’t be for the Long Beach show, but it is pretty cool. I’ll be sure to let you know as soon as it is done.

Terry: Epson has introduced here in Long Beach the new Epson F2100 DTG printer. The F2000 is still available at $12,995, while the F2100 will be available to ship sometime in March. Early order (and getting in line) price will be $15,995, $2,000 off list.

Features:

  • Ink cartridges, platens, supplies are all fully interchangeable with the F2000
  • Print speed
  • Prints with highlight white just like screen printing
  • Prints variable dot sizes for increased print quality
  • The daily tube wash liquid you put into the printer at night has been eliminated and replaced by this liquid in its own cartridge, so the process is automated
  • A new cover for the platens eliminates the need to use the hoop, and this is an available update for any current Epson platens
  • Both the 2000 and the 2100 are both available

Terry: Brooke Hestdalen with Heat Transfer Warehouse shared this information: Here’s what Heat Transfer Warehouse has coming in 2018 that we’d like everyone to keep an eye out for:

-We will be adding Cricut products to our equipment and accessories offerings

-We will be adding Siser’s PSV products

-Rose Gold has continued to be a popular color that customers enjoy so we will continue adding that color to various lines as it comes available. Metallics also seem to be a hot product right now so we will continue to add various colors in those as well!

Aaron: Juniors T-shirt Trends for Spring/Summer ‘18 from California Apparel News. They highlighted some trends being predicted by Barbara Fields Buying Office who is a veteran trend forecaster. Here are few highlights for you. Spring ’18 will be a time for bold-statement in details and trims. Juniors T-shirts will be packed with details such as pearls and piercings. Juniors are also going to be seen wearing T-shirts with bows and laces at the sides of the shirts. Also, watch for ruffles. BUT, don’t expect to see a lot of graphics.

Terry: Charlie Myers with Neenah forwarded us this information for 2018: (NYSE: NP) – Neenah Paper, Inc. (the “Company”) announced today that the Company will change its name to Neenah, Inc. effective on January 1, 2018. The Company’s ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange will remain “NP” and names of subsidiaries will not be affected.

“As we’ve continued to successfully execute our strategy to increase our presence in growing and profitable specialty niche markets, the last name of “paper” does not sufficiently reflect the diversity of our current and future company,” said John O’Donnell, Chief Executive Officer. “The Neenah name, however, will continue to represent a product portfolio known for high performance and premium quality, as well as a company appreciated for its disciplined capital allocation and commitment to providing attractive returns to investors.”

Aaron: Josh Ellsworth with Stahls brings us this information: https://blog.stahls.com/heat-printing-2018/

CAD-CUT® PS Sign Vinyl – In 2018 sign vinyl and heat transfer vinyl are together again at Stahls’. Sign vinyl also presents a way to get more sales with your existing equipment.

AquaTru™ Dye-Block™ – Dye migration is an ongoing challenge in the garment decorating industry, AquaTru Dye-Block is the solution. Developed in the Stahls’ lab, a proprietary heat transfer ink formula makes Aquatru Dye-Block the answer to heat application on sublimated and synthetic garments without dye migration. Decorate the most dye saturated, stretchy, and heat-sensitive garments with confidence and get a professional result every time.

Hotronix® Heated Lower Platen – The Heat Lower Platen melts vinyl adhesive on the inside of the garment, allowing a lower application temperature on the top platen. Now you can tackle delicate polyester and tri-blends without fear of scorching these delicate fabrics or risking dye migration on sublimated fabrics.

Aaron: Typography Right in Front from the Printsome Blog about Graphic Design Trends – Thanks to the saturation of information online, designers have been forced to find new ways to call people’s attention and the easiest one is to just make typography the protagonist of the design. In 2018 fonts will only get bigger, brighter and bolder. Some of the most popular types will be, hand-written, geometric and 3D. Not to mention that there’s a tendency to make them responsive and Google fonts will only become more popular.
